U-51 GOLD CROWN ARROW  - Ref. 6566

A new version of acclaimed novelty, U-51 Rattrapante, but only seen from outside. Italo plays with colors using small gold details over the colossal 51 mm in diameter black case, not to mention the impressive crown cap and pushers. From the inside he changes mechanisms turning the watch into a Chrono for a limited edition of only 99 items in perfect U-BOAT style.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

MOVEMENT
Top Soigné with black screws, rhodium plated, automatic mechanical chronograph personalized to U-BOAT specifications for date display and stem to be positioned at 9 o’clock. Frequency 28.800 vibrations per hour, 4 Hz. Power reserve 44 hours. 25 jewels. Height 7 mm.

FUNCTIONS
Hours, minutes, chronograph, counter small seconds at 3, counter 12 at 12, counter 30 minutes at 6. Date window at 9 o’clock.

CASE
AISI 316 plus stainless steel, with subsequent treatment of coating IP black, 51mm diameter. 59.60 mm diameter including external crown-clutter. The bezel and the back of the case are locked together by external tubing and a customized key that ensures absolute water-proofing. Thickness: 19.60 mm. The winding crown is secured by an oversized protection device, positioned at 9 o’clock, fixed on the carrure.External tubing and screws, protection device of the winding crown, chrono pushers frame and serial number plate in yellow gold 18K 2N. Total weight of the gold components is 36,60 g

CRYSTAL
Sapphire glass on the front and on the back case of the timepiece, both thick and flat with a double compression gasket fitted.

DIAL
Made of two superimposed dials, first layer made of gold 2N, golden baton hands.

STRAP
Hand made and hand finished alligator black leather, square scale, buckle with gold personalized tongue. Width 23/22 mm, hypoallergenic and colour retain treatment, fasten to the case with screws.

U-1942 and the U-42 are with no doubt based on a watch developed by Italo Fontana’s grandfather for the Italian Navy. At BASELWORLD 2010 Italo unveiled the U-42 watch inspiring awe amongst U-BOAT watch enthusiasts. The limited edition U-42 was based in fact on the U-1942 but scaled down to a 53 mm. One year after, same place, Italo introduces the chrono version in same size 53 and in a bit smaller size 47 both in black dial and limited edition of 999 pieces.

CASE
Back case fixed on case with 6 encapsulated hexagon screws. Watertight on axis reset and assured charge by PTFE gasket. Bi-directional rotating bezel lockable with a lever on the right side of the case. Fixing of revolving bezel by 3 screws encapsulated in the back case; the bezel removal, for maintenance and washing obtained by removing the three screws, does not affect the watch watertight.

STRAP
Brown leather handcrafted, width 23/23, and fitted with a titanium tongue buckle. For the 53mm version, strap with plate in titanium with tag for personalization.
All engravings on this piece are carried out by mechanical pantograph, including the brass dial with plate located, which is galvanised and finished with a bright enamel paste. The pressure resistance of this piece is tested in an autoclave at 40 bar before the final assembly is completed. The winding crown was built in two parts: one is attached to the movement stem whilst the other is hinged to it with a pivot. This gives a flexible joint configuration which allows the crown to protrude considerably from the watch itself for winding and setting, yet returning it to a protected, hidden position - diminishing the side clutter when in action.
The water-tight crown protection attached to the stem is assured by a clipping gasket in energised Polytetrafluoroethylene and by an O-RING twin-arrangement.
The dial is made with a slab in brass. All engravings on this piece are carried out by mechanical pantograph, including the brass dial which is galvanized and finished with a bright enamel paste.

CLASSICO 1001 - Ref. 6448  blu / Ref. 6449 orange

The 1001 designation is symbolic both for the 1001 limited run per color as well as each watch being water resistant to 1001 meters. Unveiled last year, this time the Classico U-1001 comes in two separate colorways: Blue and Orange and it is slightly reduced in size with a diameter of 47 mm. The U-BOAT U-1001 is a watch that pays tribute to Mr. Fontana’s passion for diving offering a bold, clear, technical design reminiscent of high tech instruments.

CASE
In steel. Distinguishing crown on left side, with a special protective device (protected as a Trade Mark) and helium escape valve, serial number engraved on a steel plate, set on the left hand side of the case. Diameter 47 mm.

BACK
Screwed in, limited edition 1001 units, serial numbering engraved in bas-relief. Rotor with Côtes de Genève decoration.

DIAL
The dial of this model is made up of two superimposed dials: one treated with superluminova and coloured pigments added (orange or blue) and the other one cut, treated with composed opaque black pigments. Arabic numerals, superluminova luminous hands. 1001 writing in high relief.

CRYSTAL
High quality sapphire, scratchproof, 4,5 mm thick.

WATER-RESISTANCE
1001 metres - 100 ATM.

STRAP
Black, rubber (hypoallergenic) with plate in steel, deployante buckle. Width 23/22 mm. Fastened to the case with screws.
